  • IPA President, FRED FISCHER, set a new “ALL TIME” World Record in the bench press at the Hillbilly Havoc 4 Power Meet in Hurricane, WV. Fred’s bench of 639.3 lbs. is the most weight lifted for all weight classes in the (70-74) age group.
  • Everyone, please note that an IPA meet lift posted on the internet does not always mean the lift is a good lift. Questionable lifts brought to our attention will be disallowed and not be posted as records on the IPA website or with OPEN POWERLIFTING. In addition, a blatant disregard of the rules may result in decertification of the meet director and judges.
  • The IPA is planning on having our World Championships in early December 2026. Major sponsor will be Fischer Financial Services, Inc. There will be significant amount of prize money for the professional lifters.
  • Congratulations to Zack Marstiller. Zack will be replacing Matt Brooks as the new State Chair of Tennessee. Matt will continue as Director of U.S. Relations.
  • Several “All Time” World Records were broken at the Strength of Heroes meet aptly directed by Shawna Mendelson. Taylor Schaeffer being coached by Laura Phelps beat Laura’s long-standing squat and total records with lifts of a 780 lb. squat and an 1,815 lb. total in the 165 lb. multi-ply category. Rodney Woodward, Jr. became only the third man in history to break the 3,000 lb. barrier. Rodney totaled 3,025 lbs. in the unlimited Super Heavy category. Mark D’Amico surpassed a record that stood for 30 years, Ernie Frantz’s squat record. Mark squatted 820 lbs. in the M60-64, 220 lb. class. Congratulations on your fantastic achievements!
